Sermons from Bay Vista Baptist ChurchGrow with One Another
Christians are not designed to go it alone; rather we are to be grown in community with other believers. Within this community, every believer is called to teach and admonish the other believers, and Paul identifies music as one area where this should be regularly done.
Encourage One Another
The writer of Hebrews noted that some Christians were falling away from the faith, and told believers to encourage one another to prevent this. This advice still applies to us today, in the form of a serious warning.
Be at Peace with One Another
The early Christians were known as such by their love for one another; in fact, Jesus even said that this would be a hallmark of His disciples. However, we are often known more for what we are against, including - at times - each other. Paul encourages us, through his letter to the church in Rome, to live at peace with one another, and to accept them the way Christ has accepted us.
Forgive One Another
As Paul was writing to the Colossian church, he reminded them of whose they were. Then, he illustrated that bearing with and forgiving one another should be our only response, in view of all that we have been forgiven ourselves.
Be Good to One Another
As Paul was wrapping up his letter to the church at Rome, which he had never visited, he praised them for being the type of people who took care of one another. Throughout the New Testament, there are several Scriptures addressing the call of God on His believers to be good to one another.
Love One Another
There are many principles within Scripture that apply to “one another” - principles that we as believers should be applying daily. We begin our look at these by remembering Jesus’ command to His disciples (and us) that we are to love one another - not just better than other people, but the way He loved us.
We Are NOT Alone!
As Peter wraps up his letter to the church under fire, he reminds the believers that they are not alone. The family of faith provides us support, remind us of Christ’s truth, and help us share in the peace of God.
The Refreshing
Peter encourages his readers one final time, with a reminder that God has promised to perfect, confirm, strengthen, and establish His people. We can rejoice that, though God, we will ultimately stand victorious.
The Roaring Lion
Peter follows up his individual admonitions to the shepherds and the flock, he reminds us that we need to always be on guard against the enemy. He uses the image of a roaring lion to drive home the seriousness of this enemy, but also encourages us to stand firm against him.
Following the Shepherds
After his admonition to the elders, Peter speaks with the rest of the believers, encouraging them to be led by humility and complete dependence upon God.
